Divergent is a science-fiction story about a society that divides its people into factions that require their members to think and react in certain predictable ways. This makes those who do not conform and will not be controlled by their fears to be labeled “divergent” and killed.
The amazing thing about a person who is divergent is that when they are forced into a drugged mind-controlled fear landscape they remain conscious and recognize that it is an illusion, and therefore are still able to change their thinking patterns.
Parts of our lives are very much like this movie and I think it is thrilling to have the concept put forth in a way that appeals to the youth in these popular stories. In our life dramas we can choose to accept the programing of the media, the overlay of our parent’s belief systems, and even allow being divided into religious factions in mindless ways; OR we could choose to think independently.
Many of the things we have been taught are beneficial to us and to the world but many are not. It is our responsibility to become conscious of our thoughts and beliefs and see which ones are serving us and which ones aren’t. And then make choices that serve us and the world at large.
It sounds pretty simple but when you monitor your thoughts one by one, the results will surprise you. It may be a challenge to make changes. But your thoughts become the fabric of your life in a very literal way so if you want to change anything in your life and even in the world, it requires thinking in a different way.
Today stay conscious of your thought patterns, see where they take you, you may want to choose to be divergent.
